Zoey ; I got an idea! My grandma is a shaman and she has been studying the art of the shaman’s all of her life which has been passed down for generations. She’s even taught me a few things about the mastery of a shaman. I could probably get a hold of her today and have her do a séance for tomorrow night with the four of you.
Mitch ; Isn’t that like voodoo, a séance?
Zoey ; I suppose you could say that, but it’s good spiritual spirits brought to you.
Mitch ; Well I really don’t believe in voodoo. I suppose I would be okay to try it. It won’t hurt anything, what do you guys think?
Chilly ; I’m up for it!
Antwon ; That will be pretty cool to see!
Leo ; We don’t have to lose blood or get cut do we?
Zoey ; No! She won’t a flick any harm to you. You may have to drink or eat something that she makes or smoke.
Leo ; What’s the worst that could happen? Sure I’m in!
Zoey ; Well you are dealing with spirits so you will have to be truthful and understanding what could happen.
For the rest of the day Antwon and Zoey hung out and visited some of her relatives. Mitch and Lupita hung out as well and visited some of her relatives. Mocko was showing Leo and Chilly some of the tribal culture that they did in the village. It was now Tuesday morning and Antwon, Chilly, Mitch and Leo were at the school to look at how Parra was teaching the kids of the village. Antwon and Leo were giving pointers to the schoolchildren and Parra what they could do to make it more interesting for the kids to learn. There were about 30 children of all ages in the school from the village.
Later on that Tuesday night when it got dark Antwon, Chilly, Mitch and Leo were escorted by Zoey to her grandmother’s hut. They went inside and were met by an older lady with long gray hair. She had on a brassiere type brawl on with a lot of necklaces that hung down to her stomach and about a dozen or so wrist bracelets between both arms. She wore colorful skirt just down past her knees. On her face she had white makeup of only three lines. One of which was on her forehead that was about a half-inch wide and 3 inches long and two lines one on each of her cheeks going vertically about a half-inch wide and 2 inches long. She had a 1 inch nose ring centered in her nose. She had two feathered earrings one for each ear that dangled down to her shoulders.
When they entered the hut they could smell incense in the air burning. The hut was about 16 foot in a hexagon shape. There were over 12 candles lit around inside of the hut. There was also a small fire in the center of the hut with a tripod type stand holding a metal pot with something in it over the fire. For the fire there was a vent type hole in the ceiling of the hut to release the smoke. In the center of the hut there were three benches about 5 foot long each in a triangle type fashion around the fire. There was a cupboard with shelves along one side of the hut of containers with lids, many spice jars and liquids.
By the cupboard hanging from the ceiling were four chickens with their feathers on them hanging by their necks along with many dried plants? On the shelves and around the hut there were many different types of animal skulls and pelts. Some of the pelts were on the ground used in a fashion of carpet. There was a bed on one side of the hut with animal pelts for blankets on it. On the other side of the hut there were a table and three chairs surrounding it with a crystal ball in the center. There also was a couple of tribal mask hung on the walls around inside of the hut.
Zoey ; Well Antwon, Chilly, Mitch and Leo this is my grandmother Zorula Lamatta she is the shaman I’ve been telling you about. She is very good at what she does, so please take it serious what she will give you from the spirits tonight.
Chilly ; Hi there Zorula! My name is Chilly I’m looking forward to this spiritual intervention tonight.
Zorula ; Nice to have you Chilly! I hope you have good fortune with the spirits I bring forward to you tonight. You can’t ask for a better night with the astronomical display of the stars and it’s also a full moon out. This should be a very powerful séance session tonight.
Antwon ; My name is Antwon! What exactly is going to happen here tonight? Besides it being a full moon.
Zorula ; Well Antwon were going to do a séance with the spirits on dreams that could bring good fortune of everyday life. The dreams will be a reenactment of what’s to come the following day.
Leo ; I don’t believe you can control the spirits Zorula!
Zorula ; Which one are you, Mitch or Leo?
Leo ; Leo!
Zorula ; Well I suppose you will see for yourself Leo whether you believe I can control the spirits to bring you good fortune or bad, you’ll just have to see, so please try to believe why you’re here.
Mitch ; This will be interesting for me, I’ve never been in a séance before. What will we have to do?
Zorula ; Well Mitch I will tell you in a little bit after you guys have a seat around the fire.
Zorula had them sit two on each bench around the fire. Zoey sat on Zorula’s bed. Then Zorula sat on the center of the third bench.
Zorula ; Well I am happy to give you this séance from the ancient shaman practices to hopefully bring you greatness in your life. You will not know for sure if goodness will come but through your dreams you should be able to decipher good or bad of what may happen. You must make a decision in your dreams from the night prior for the following day. It will happen sometime within the 24 hours from when you have the dream before that dream will have passed. If you are unsure that goodness will come to you, then you should avoid what is going to come about in your dream or alter it to assure goodness comes about. Do you understand so far?
Chilly ; So we will receive messages in our dreams?
Zorula ; The dream will be the message which you will have to relate to real life for the following day.
Mitch ; How many dreams a week will we have? And how do you know which dreams will be real?
Zorula ; There will only be one very vivid dream that you will have to pay attention to each week.
Antwon ; Will the dreams only happen at night when you’re sleeping?
Zorula ; They can happen any time during the day or night whenever you fall asleep. They could be short or long depending on each dream.
Leo ; I suppose dreams couldn’t be very bad to have. But I am curious how long will this spell be placed on us for?
Zorula ; They will last as long as when the spirit God Zooloo feels that you have made a difference in life to be honorable in the eye of the spirits to bring goodness. Or it could last up to three years before the vivid dreams go away. You will know in a special vivid dream that you will have that there will be some kind of test within your dream that you will have to pass to be relieved from the spell. If you’re fortunate enough to be honored for the dream that will test you to relieve the spell placed upon you.
Chilly ; Could you name some examples of goodness that would be considered from these dreams?

                                                               Chapter 4

Zorula ; By helping people out in need! To improve our make things better! Doing good deeds! To save a person’s life! If the outcome of the dream is to be bad alter it, to make it good!
Chilly ; That sounds simple enough, all you have to do is just make good judgment calls after seeing your dream.
Zorula ; Okay! Does everybody want to do this séance tonight then?
Chilly ; I’m in!
Leo ; What the heck why not!
Mitch ; That all sounds good to me, plus goodness may come about.
Antwon ; Sure!
Zorula ; I need you all to be in a relaxed state when we do this séance. So what I have for you is this pipe with a type of herbs and tobacco in it that’ll make you relax. (Zorula hands Leo a long smoking pipe that she had lit.)
Leo ; Is this a type of drug!
Zorula ; Yes! It’s a special mixture that’ll calm your nerves and relax you.
Leo ; Well I’ll do it, but I hope they don’t throw a drug test at me when we get back to school.
Antwon ; What’s the chances of them thrown a drug test Leo?
Leo ; You’re probably right! Why not! Were here on vacation and I mize as well make the most of it. (Leo takes a large puff and begins coughing.)
Zorula ; Keep passing it to one another, it’ll take a few minutes to kick in.
Antwon, Mitch, Chilly and Leo had passed the pipe back and forth to each other until all the contents inside the pipe had turned to ashes. By this time their eyes were all red and they were feeling really relaxed with a lot of smoke inside the hut.
Zorula ; Now you will have to drink the soup that I’ve made up. There are herbs and spices in the soup along with a chicken’s heart and feet. You don’t eat the feet of the chicken but the heart you will eat after I tell you what to say in the ancient language. (Zorula gets four bowls and opens up the kettle over the fire. Then takes a ladle and puts the juices from what was boiling into the bowls. She takes one heart and two chicken feet per each bowl. She hands a bowl with the soup to each person.) Is there anything you would like to say before we do the séance?
Leo ; That is gross! You have chicken feet and a chicken’s heart in the soup?
Zorula ; Yes! This is what you have to do in order to receive the dreams from the séance. I assure you everything is fine, you will not get sick.
Leo ; I suppose I can try and do this.
Mitch ; What the heck, I’ll do it!
Zorula ; Don’t drink it until I tell you! And it’s very important to say the ancient words prior to eating the heart. I will have one person at a time go and tell each of you what to say.
Antwon ; Okay!
Chilly ; I’ll try!
Zorula ; I’ll start with you first Antwon. Touch the soup Antwon to see if it’s not too hot.
Antwon ; No! It’s not too hot!
Zorula ; Okay then, I would like you to drink the liquid in the bowl.
Antwon ; (Antwon drinks the liquid out of the bowl to where there is just a heart and feet left.) It’s not as bad as I thought it would be. It almost tastes like chicken soup.
Zorula ; Okay repeat after me! ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Antwon ; What does that saying mean?
Zorula ; I will accept and honor my God Zooloo in good judgment and faith!
Antwon ; But Zooloo is not my God!
Mitch ; Antwon it’ll be okay! Zooloo is not my God either but I’m just going to do it any way.
Antwon ; Okay I suppose! What could it hurt anyhow? Zorula what was that saying again?
Zorula ; Repeat after me! I’ll say a small phrase of it then you say. ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA!
Antwon ; ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA!!!
Zorula ; ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Antwon ; ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Zorula ; Okay now you can eat the heart!
Antwon ; (Antwon puts the heart in his mouth and starts chewing.) That’s really not that bad. Am I finished now with the séance?
Zorula ; Yes in a second Antwon when I say the closing words you’re done! Now let good dreams come to you Antwon and have success be on your side.
Antwon ; That really wasn’t so bad and I feel good! How long will it take before I experience my first dream?
Zorula ; It could be as early as tonight when you fall asleep. Chilly would you like to go next?
Chilly ; Sure I’m up for it!
Zorula ; Okay drink the soup! Then say ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Chilly ; (Drinks the soup then says.) ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTERVANNA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Zorula ; It’s not ISTERVANNA BALA ZOOLOO! It’s ZA LA NACKAMOLA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!! So it’s ISTVENA!!!
Chilly ; Okay! I understand! I’m sorry! Did I mess it up the séance?
Zorula ; No you didn’t! Long as you say the saying correctly before you eat the heart.
Chilly ; Okay I’ll try it again! How does it go again!
Zorula ; ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Chilly ; Here it goes again! ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Zorula ; Very good! That was correct! Now eat the heart!
Chilly ; Okay! (Chilly eats the chicken heart.)
Zorula ; Now let good dreams come to you Chilly and have success be on your side…. Okay Leo, are you ready now? If you are go ahead and drink the soup.
Leo ; Yeah! Okay! (Leo then drinks the soup.)
Zorula ; Okay now say! ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Leo ; Okay! ZA LA NACKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Zorula ; Very good! Now eat the heart!
Leo ; Okay! (Leo eats the chicken heart.)
Zorula ; Now let good dreams come to you Leo and have success be on your side…. Now it’s your turn Mitch, go ahead and drink the soup.
Mitch ; Okay let’s see if I get this right! (Mitch drinks the soup.)
Zorula ; Okay now say! ZA LA NOCKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!!
Mitch ; ZA LA NOCKAMOLA KONNA ISTVENA BALA ZOOLOO!!! Did I get it right Zorula?
Zorula ; Yes! Now eat the chicken heart.
Mitch ; Okay! (Mitch then eats the chicken heart.)
Zorula ; Now let good dreams come to you Mitch and have success be on your side…. We are now done with the séance ceremony. If you would like for a souvenir and a remembrance of this séance you may keep the chickens feet. Others that have done this séance with me have taken one of the chicken’s feet and put it on a string for a necklace on their neck as a good luck charm.
Chilly ; (Chilly reaches into his bowl and grabs one of the chicken feet.) I think I’ll keep one, but I don’t know if I will wear it around my neck as a good luck charm.
Leo ; (Leo does the same with the chicken foot.) I’ll keep one just to remember this night.
Mitch ; I don’t know their pretty gross! Yeah what the hack I’ll take one and put in my backpack to bring home as a souvenir.
Antwon ; I’ll just take some pictures of us being here in the hut with you Zorula if you don’t mind? I’ll pass on the chicken feet their pretty gross.
Zorula ; Sure! I don’t mind! Go ahead and take all the pictures you want to take. I would suggest though that you take one of the feet.
Antwon ; I’ll be all right that’s okay, I’ll pass on the feet!
Zoey ; Well thanks  Gamm Gammm for doing the séance! I think I learned a little bit more about how to do it. Maybe someday I’ll be able to do one.
Zorula ; No problem Zoe! I’ll teach you yet my sweet granddaughter.
Zoey ; Well we should probably leave you alone now we’ll be on our way.
Antwon ; Thanks for the séance Zorula!
Chilly ; Now I’m just curious to see how these dreams are and to have good fortune in my life.
Mitch ; Thanks Zorula!
Leo ; It’s been a pleasure doing the séance with you Zorula.
Zorula ; It’s been an honor to perform such a task. Just make sure you take the dreams seriously for no wrongdoings come about.
All five then left Zorula’s hut. Antwon went with Zoey to her hut to spend another night. Mitch went to Lupita’s hut to spend his last night in Zamm Boola. Chilly and Leo went to their tent and then went to sleep for the night.
